My favorite Bsky client continues to improve! Absolutely worth a look if for no other reason than the necessary feature of starting where you left off, instead of dropping you into current posts.

Moving feed search into regular search freed up space in the bottom navigation bar. I have moved the post button into the navigation bar to give you more unobstructed reading space!

The next release of Skywalker will support the Bluesky bookmarks and migrate your current local bookmarks to Bluesky bookmarks.

With Skywalker you could do this since we have video.

I just spotted bookmarks are added to the Bluesky lexicon!

In the settings you can change the look of the user interface to your liking: colors, position of favorites bar, auto play of video and gifs, and much more.

A skywalker user got a new Pixel 10 Pro XL phone and now Skywalker looks like this! Has anyone else seen this? Looks like an issue in the Qt rendering engine. If anyone with deep knowledge of Qt has an idea, that would be helpful.

When you have opened an image, you can double tap on it to zoom in to full size. It will zoom from the point you tapped. Double tapping again will zoom out.

@nowrench.com yesterday Qt6.9.2 was released. I made few code changes to make Skywalker work with it (won't compile with older versions anymore). Sofar it seems to work. Need to use it for a while to see if there are any other issues.

Next release will have a basic image editor to crop, rotate or mirror an image you want to post.

When a post is the first of a thread and it has no 🧵-indicator, Skywalker will display the 🧵-indicator at the end of that post so you know there is more to see and you may want open the thread. The post below is an example. It only contains the text "New post". Skywalker shows 🧵 below the text.

I see so many people want bookmarks and drafts. Skywalker already had both or them! Your bookmarks and drafts will be stored locally on your device. You can even keep post threads, complete with images and video as draft.

Other nice features for post threads are: * Auto split * Merge posts With auto split apart new post gets added when you reach the 300 character limit of a post. Text in excess of the limit will be moved to the next post where you can continue to type. When you copy/paste a long text in 🧵1/3

When you compose a thread of posts, Skywalker will automatically number your posts like this: 🧵n/N It will update n and N as you add or remove posts. You can change the 🧵-prefix to another prefix in the options menu. You can disable the numbering if you do not want it.

Media gallery view is really awesome.

You can change the presentation of a feed: click the post item at the top right. For a feed with pictures the media view (Instagram like view with screen wide pictures) or media gallery view are great. If you want to filter out video posts then the video views will do that for you. 🧵1/2

Skywalker offers more interesting feed options. Besides hiding people you follow you can hide replies. For feeds based on a user list Skywalker can remember your last read post, just like it does for your following feed.

Have you noticed the songlink button in posts with music from a streaming service? You can press it and you get buttons for various streaming platforms that has this song and chose the one of your preference to play. 🧵1/2

and you can do that with Skywalker too by tapping on a link after you typed in and the tap on the link button to set a display text for a link.

Link card extraction from a website is black magic. I noticed that @skywalker.thereforeiam.eu failed to get cards from WSJ. After analyzing the HTTP requests from a web browser and a lot of trial ang error, I changed my code: some extra cookie dance for WSJ and appending "(android)" to the 🧵1/3

When you post a GIF Skywalker asks if you want to post it as a video or a still image.

While waiting for the new release build I was scrolling through my timeline. Then suddenly the app disappears. Oh crap, a crash Wait, it's not a crash the build was ready and the build system shot down the app to install the new release. It starts up, rewinds the timeline to where I was reading!🥳
