Last night was surprisingly good in my VC15 trap considering the weather. The highlights 2 more Striped Hawkmoths, a Silver Y that have been scarce so far and a Small Marbled that was nearly overlooked hiding under the rim of the trap. #TeamMoth @migrantmothuk.bsky.social

A few more migrant moths from our Grove garden traps today incl a Purple Marbled; a Four Spotted was also only the third ever for this site. Weirdest catch was an orangey-coloured Xestia - struggling to see beyond it being an oddly-marked and v early Dotted Clay (v rare here) but comments welcome

Scarce Bugloss Ermine (Ethmia terminella) to light in the North Hampshire garden last night, a first for Hampshire and not quite the migrant moth I was expecting. Potted off the sheet by the trap at 4:30am this morning, making it worth the effort. @migrantmothuk.bsky.social #TeamMoth

Migrants were EBStraw, 2 each Ni Moth and Bordered Straw, 12 SMWillow. 14 nfy, the most photogenic was this Argyresthia brockeella. @migrantmothuk.bsky.social The County recorder has kindly let me know that the breeding Garganey are the first confirmed record since 1986. That's 40 years ago! 😮

A few migrants came in first thing in St Mellion, then no obvious arrivals after 23:35, so perhaps that's that! Scarcer migrants among 118 species included - 1 Vestal 1 Gem 2 Small Marbled 1 Bordered Straw 1 Eastern Bordered Straw - 1st since 27/5 81 Small Mottled Willow #teammoth

Hodebertia testalis (Cream Pearl), to light at St Mellion, SE Cornwall (VC2) on night of 30/5. In fact I think there were two but one flew out before I had a chance to pot it. I believe this is the 4th British record, a first record for mainland Cornwall and the most inland record. #teammoth

Totting up the Eastern Bordered Straw (H nubigera) records from the past week: 70 so far & counting! To put that into context there are 39 previous British records. The record count for a singe year was 19 in 2006 (previously considered the best year for migrants this century Not any more! #teammoth
