A feeding flock of 100+ Med Gulls over the garden this evening. Mainly adults, but a few 1st & 2nd year birds in the mix. Presumably feeding on an ant swarm?

Some smart species last night, wanderers from local populations: Sub-angled Wave, Reed Dagger, Dewick's Plusia & Coleophora lixella.

Jersey Mocha from last night. A long-overdue new moth for me.

Best micro from last night was this Stathmopoda pedella, with its hindlegs held out at an angle.

This funky-looking Sussex Emerald was a bit of a shock from last night.

Gong bringing their cosmic sounds to The Booking Hall, Dover tonight. Always worth seeing.

Honey Buzzard N low over the garden this afternoon. Interestingly, it got little attention from the local gulls.

Pick of last night's migrants were Light Crimson Underwing & Ni Moth.

Kentish plover at Lade sands this evening showing well.

This super-fresh Alchymist was star moth from last night. The previous record for Kingsdown was 12 Aug 1934 by Mr H Charles.

Scarce Tissue from last night & Scallop Shell from Friday night. Both are less than annual here and such smart moths when freash.

Top macro & micro billing from last night: Scarce Black Arches (almost annual here now) & Caloptilia honoratella (becoming more regular in E Kent).

Pick of last night's trap was this V-Moth, a new moth for me. It has suffered 71% decline in distribution and 98% decline in abundance (1970-2016), according to The Atlas.

First Sussex Emerald last night, but pick of the trap was this Argolamprotes micella. My 3rd record, after 2 in 2025.

Small Marbled was the pick of very few migrants, but the best looking moths were Ethmia quadrillella & Yellow Shell

Grapholita pallifrontana & its common congener Grapholita compositella. Wild Liquorice is a scarce plant in Kent, so a trip to @plantlifeuk.bsky.social Ranscombe Farm was required.

Figure of Eighty (scarce here for some reason) & Bordered Straw were pick of the trap.

Highlight #Bockhill this morning were this pair of Mute Swans over the Freedown. It's all about context...

The Zitting Cisticola #Bockhill this morning. A brilliant find by Phil C. The bird showed well & sang in the clifftop margin for about 90 mins, before heading N & not relocated before the rain started.

A walk round East Blean this afternoon - Norfolk Hawker, lots of Heath Fritillaries & a leaf beetle - Clytra quadripunctata.

2 Reed Warblers & 38 Swifts were the highlights #Bockhill before the thunderstorms rolled in. Yellow Horned & Common Poppy in full flower.

No birds of note #Bockhill today, but 1st Marbled Whites, plus female Red-veined Darter & Burnet Companion on the clifftop, with Broad-bodied Chaser in the garden.

The magnificent Hayseed Dixie at The Booking Hall, Dover tonight. Rockgrass vs AC/DC, BOC, Dio, Led Zep, Black Sabbath etc

Desperate times called for desperate measures - 2 traps in the garden & 2 on the beach. Result = Eastern Bordered Straw. I thought I going to miss out on membership of #EBS2026 club. Also, 2 Small Mottled Willow & Broken-barred Carpet. It's not Cornwall numbers, but I'll take it.

The audio & visual phenomenon that is Kraftwerk at the Brighton Centre last night. Amazing sounds.

The Black Kite that spent a while drifting round #Bockhill & South Foreland this morning. There will be better pics, but they won't make it any better-looking. Thanks to Chris Powell the finder, for the call.

Icterine Warbler singing in The Freedown #Bockhill this morning was definite highlight, but barely showed, hence no photos. Best from the trap was Sciota rhenella & Eudonia delunella.

The 3rd Concolorous this week, but this dowdy Buttoned Snout new for me here.

A fresher Concolorous last night, plus some nicely marked Portland Ribbon Waves. Hedgehog for company was even better.

Alder Moth (only my 2nd record) & Concolorous were highlights from a busy trap last night.

Highlight of last night's trap was this Lace Border. Difficult to know if a primary immigrant or a wanderer from the North Downs.

Hundreds of Painted Lady #Bockhill this morning, with freshly-emerged Common Blue, Salsify & Goat's-beard.

Vestal was the best from last night's trap.

Mainly Red Kites today #Bockhill with at least 37 in the area, plus Hobby moving N.
