I was sitting outside my mother's hospital room on Friday evening, giving Mom some space while her nurses removed her chest tube (which has been a relief, though her lung continues to fill). Somewhere nearby someone was watching "Raiders of the Lost Ark." I heard Indy and Marion arrive in Cairo.

Mom is in hospital (one lung collapsed; the other with clots). What it means is unclear. I'm terrified to lose her. Since Dad died when I was 23, it's just been us for 29 yrs, & I fear to lose her, my mother and friend. I don't suppose anyone is "ready" to lose a parent. I certainly am not.
