I twisted my ankle while I was out for a walk, and am irritably wondering if I’m about to join a gym so I can work off all of my excess jittery energy and SAD (I’m a very jittery, intermittently weepy paradox) in a lower impact way than running in circles around the neighborhood.

As of 12/24/25, USPS changed policy on when they postmark mail. Mail dropped off is no longer guaranteed a same-day postmark. Tax returns & other time-sensitive items are now stamped when they reach a regional processing center, which may be days later. Plan deadlines accordingly to avoid penalties.

I have a serious case of internalized Watership Down, so have a lagomorph.

2.5 miles this morning. I’m very aware of the very necessary slack of the last two months. I’m glad I can once again run away from the noise of my busy brain and into the quiet meditative flow of one foot in front of the other.

A good if short run, my body is beginning to demonstrate that it sort of remembers how to move. On the walk home, I was belting out the Coventry Carol, and realized only after that someone was walking close behind me on the foot path. Yes, Herod verse included. It suits the times.

Getting back into the swing of things, post holiday, trying to figure out what is convalescence and what is just a prolonged break from running, but either way glad for the cool and quiet of a morning run. (Picture is not from my run—sigh)

So I discovered one of the worse ways for gallbladders to go wrong. Two surgeries and four days in the hospital later, I am now free of gallstones where they shouldn’t be, and a gallbladder. I’m no longer the color of a daffodil or trying to digest my own liver. I will miss the view from my room.

Thei wante us talkinge alone on our phones to a demon thei created, and not goinge places and being wyth each othir yn art and joy and communitye. Thei want cinemas to shut downe, and broadwaye to go darke. Thei want wryteres to stop writinge. Thei want to sell us hell and have us pay for it.

Radiation adhesions and throwing up don’t mix. Also ribs are attached to too many things. Radiation was three years ago. Throwing up was almost 24 hours ago. It feels very unfair that I’m in “involuntary whimpering” amounts of pain.

Two weeks more or less with no running posts? Oh dear. Running has been happening. And raccoon spotting. And getting jump scared by a yard full of mannequins dressed as classic horror movie monsters. In my defense it was dark and suddenly there was a human shape Right There.

Before yesterday took a turn for the barfy, I had one of the loveliest runs: 6 miles along the Ruston Way trail, and I met a very sweet corgi named Max who is my new best friend.

There ought to be a law against throwing up while the evil DJ in your head plays the “my Gawd, what have you done?” bit of Pink Pony Club over and over.

3 miles yesterday morning, that felt good despite being unable to find my running headphones. My brain filled in the lack of tunes with “The Impression That I Get,” a criminally catchy song that I loathe.
