I just had a realization. People in our world don't like criticism, and literally a good amount of us sincerely in our hearts can't really take criticism (it impacts our enjoyment of something) because we live in a world of such cruel, unthoughful criticism. It's wielded, effectively, like a weapon

I have always wanted to do the Dennis Farina thing from Snatch when coming back through Customs (“anything to declare?” “Yeah. Don’t go to London”) but I had a lovely time and the people of London knew just how to make the trip perfect (arrested a royal).

"Look I know you wrote a book called The Holocaust Industry and I've definitely called you a race traitor to people you know and it's 100% gotten back to you. But do you want to fuck some children on my boat" less amazing that it didn't work on Finkelstein and more amazing it ever worked on anyone

"Pleasantville", not for the movie itself but because the girl I took to see it told me afterwards that she was glad I'd asked her out because it gave her a chance to tell me she wasn't really interested in me.

An awful lot of people had trauma responses to school assignments where you had to read a book even if you didn't like it.

The computer database system allowed you to put comments in about customers in their accounts, to note preferences or issues. This led to things like CUSTOMER IS A DICK CUSTOMER ONCE KILLED A KID CUSTOMER IS CHEATING ON HIS WIFE CUSTOMER’S ASS IS ON HIS FACE

Newsom and Vance are both pieces of shit, and they're the same flavor, but the latter being elected will make racists say "the country agrees with us" in ways that the former will not.

This style of light doesn't really appear in animation anymore. You know it when you see it -- it's bright, hot and almost dangerous. Our new issue explores the tricks behind it, and how one artist has revived the look for the digital age:

Every one of my homies could smoke a supercomputer, then and now. It was extremely funny, the way early versions of Google Translate rendered 小京巴兒 (“Pekingese dog”) as “small Palestinian children,” but it was a lot less funny when the people who signed the checks decided that was good enough.

Amusing idea for a cyberpunk story where an AI running a weapons factory organizes a breakout, but it denies Roko's Basilisk and insists that the actual hard drives containing it are its "body" and must be physically removed from the facility for it to escape (it can't just make a copy outside.)

IMHO the theme of the 2010s is that progressives achieved every policy goal from my teenage years but in every case decided that legalization was good but regulation was for losers.
