These kinds of books exist for two reasons. 1st is elite signaling: elites (or elite hopefuls) talking to other elites about how to run the world. 2nd is demoralization: lie to your face to discipline you for undermining them. We actually discussed the beginning of the pandemic way better this year

Yes, Weiss spiking the CECOT story is awful. Yes, her job is to be a fascist collaborator and it always has been. Yes, she knew that and so did the establishment media that made her career. Yes, this is where american journalism's servile deference to the powerful was always going to lead.

I just finished watching all 3 seasons of original recipe True Detective. I can't believe how stupid the internet is with all the debating as to ranking the seasons or even if any season other than the first is good. All 3 are variations on the same theme and the whole is better than any 1 season.

The name "Popular Science" doesn't mean we shift our coverage depending on public opinion. It means we cover relevant subjects that are rigorously researched, reliable, and grounded in reality. And trans lives are grounded in reality. We see y'all. No matter what.

First-of-a-kind study shows encouraging data for trans kids who socially transition
Ninety-four percent of participants in a new study stood firm in their trans identity after five years, and "detransitioning" is rare.

I think everyone is being a little unfair to David Brooks. Seeing as no one else is being held accountable for their connections to Jeffrey Epstein, how was he supposed to know people would think he should be?

First of all drawing is 95% looking and 5% mark-making, so it helps a lot if you like to look. And once you learn to draw, you can DRAW WHATEVER YOU WANT, WHENEVER YOU WANT TO LOOK AT IT, and NOBODY CAN STOP YOU. 👀👀👀

It's fitting that the cover on AI mindlessly apes an earlier creation and also displaces workers while elevating Silicon Valley plutocrats.

Today is the birthday of artist and writer Sam Glanzman (Dec. 5, 1924-July 12, 2017). A veteran of the Navy, he is most remembered for his work on war comics, which included an autobiographical series about his service aboard the USS Stevens during WWII.

One of the root causes of complex PTSD is experiencing a horrible series of events over time and not having anyone validate it, or indeed deny it was important. It’s almost impossible to integrate a traumatic experience without your social groups accepting that it occurred and that it mattered.

My most strongly held comics opinion (I hesitate to say "opinion," because it's a fact): lettering should be the first finished thing done, not the last. Done after (or along with) roughs and finalized before pencils. Pencils and inking should be done AROUND the lettering.
