Students create their own heroes for my Superhero class! Each project was to include an intro page modeled after DC's Who's Who series and then a mini or short comic showing the character in action. They were all a blast, and these are some absolute standouts in design & character development!

A helpful half-term distraction tied into the KS2 curriculum. The great thing about comics is kids don’t even realise they are learning, like when you hide disgusting vegetables in much tastier food like ice cream!

I didn't even know about this before drawing it, which is why I love doing these diagrams - I learn so much! Nothing helps you wrap your head around something like trying to draw it.

I looked at *tonnes* of diagrams to properly understand shoulder anatomy so I could draw one simplified illustration (left), and coming across absolute AI gobbledygook (right) from a "Center for Specialty Care" DID NOT HELP. It just got worse the more I learned. Careful out there, folks! #sciart

If only there were some sort of beloved story about the perils of using a fundamentally corrupt technology created for evil ends, even if you yourself have pure motives. Ideally one which made it clear at the end that there can be no compromise with inherent evil, it must just be stamped out.

Assets that came from these concepts were also in the first Kromlech dev diary - they're bronze decorations for barrowfolk tombs and other locations. You can see repeated motifs of horned sorcerer kings and Heron who carries souls back from Danain, so they can serve as undead sentinels.

In addition to being a pioneering SFX artist, there's a good bet Joe is behind some of your favourite designs - the Millennium Falcon, Iron Giant, and Rocketeer film adaptation are all his! (Dave Stevens' iconic helmet design always struck me as an inspiration for the Iron Giant).
