It's absolutely astonishing: In just about 13 years, Norway has skyrocketed from virtually no sales of zero-emission battery electric vehicles to nearly 100% of all new passenger car purchases.

In a UN speech today, President Trump said that "all of these [climate] predictions were wrong". Back in 2019 I led a research effort to digitize old climate model projections and assess how well they did. Turns out they got future warming pretty spot on!

I’m glad this is getting more airtime. Met coal based blast furnaces, and specifically the coke ovens that feed them produce tremendous amounts of local air pollution. Just moving to commercially available gas based DRI reduces these pollutants by a quantum, and CCS or 100% H2 yet more.

With 5 months to go until COP30, the EU still has no NDC. The ESABCC and others are still calling for the Climate Law to be amended first. This requires a time consuming legislative procedure and could result in the EU having no NDC in time. The consequences would be worse than those of a lower NDC.

Had a bit of a run-in with climate activists over a bit of science that doesn't say what they want it to and my insistence that journalism should - and indeed mostly did - report it correctly. In the end, since the science says what it does, they tried to quibble about wording. Don't do that.
