I pulled a motor controller out of my parts bins (one I never used before) for the steering on my kei truck. As soon as I plugged it into the 36v rail, it arced, fried the motor controller, the RP2040 it was connected to, then sent 36V up the USB cable, and fried my USB hub, webcam, and bluetooth.
