It’s hard to accurately describe what is happening in Minneapolis without sounding crazy. Unmarked rental vans all over the city, with people in military gear and no id jumping out of them to take captive anyone who looks nonwhite or who makes political speech they disagree with.

Minnesota politicians are not treating this occupation with the urgency it deserves. Enough social posts, @governorwalz.mn.gov, @amyklobuchar.com, @smith.senate.gov. What are you doing to help us? What is your plan?

UPDATE: Judge Menendez makes it clear she intends to rule on the emergency motion by protesters — seeking to halt key police tactics by ICE in Minnesota — by Thursday afternoon.

HAPPENING NOW: In federal court in MN, DOJ is struggling to articulate why a person following an ICE vehicle — so long as they are obeying traffic laws — can be stopped for "reasonable suspicion" of a crime. Judge Menendez sharply questioning that contention.

I see you, currently very wide highway slopes, after an I-94 parkway conversion through the center of #Minneapolis and #StPaul. Think big, people--we don't have to live with the very ugly status quo.

Hopefully people will remember all the screaming about congestion pricing the next time the city and state want to do something big and take away this lesson: Ignore the "no way, no how" opponents, get it done quickly, and improve people's lives.
