Film and animation nerds take the Oscars and other award shows way too seriously and only seem to care about using them for petty and meaningless console war bullshit.

I will always prefer the weekly episode formula to the Netflix "binge an entire season in one weekend" formula.   At least with weekly releases the show is kept in the public's mind longer, there's more hype between episodes, and it's fun to have those weekly discussions.

It's weird. Like, Trek got the first "Making of a TV show" book (that Terrance Dicks would lend writers and he'd "Be inspired by" for the Making of Doctor Who), so, allowing for the novelisations being pretty much the only things early Who fandom could by, the generalisation is more the other way

Unrelated to the thread, but one hilarious thing about Who fandom is there are people who'll spit blood at the idea anyone involved with was ever influenced by Star Trek. And then in the official paperwork you've got letters from Dicks going "Yo, Bob, Dave... send me my Making of Star Trek back."
