One of the best parts of sustained friendships is you, too, can commit to the bit! Natalie is a very accommodating boss, she always sends in her orders with plenty of time to execute on her vision.

my third romance novel, SECOND HELPINGS, comes out in may! my books are FUN: they're made to make you feel like you're watching a rompy 90s romcom, but queer. also there is a dog in it named pastrami & i believe in my heart that if enough people read it, that dog will become real & come to my home

every transphobic argument boils down to "in spite of the infinite variety of experience inherent to humanity, you are only allowed to be the kind of person we (a collection of miserable ghouls) say you should be." an amazing coincidence that every fascist argument boils down to the same thing

Multiple friends have caught COVID recently, including some of my more cautious pals. There are a lot of winter germs in crowded places right now, fam. Personally, I never feel that shopping or riding transit unmasked is worth potentially getting sick. You can always renew this practice.

what if instead of every writer having an individual premium substack we had lots of writers working together for one publication. you might have editors, too, and designers. and only one regular fee, instead of seventy billion! wonder who will invent that. sounds like it’d be good

I'm going to share a very good story about the internet. I won't tell it well because I apparently have the flu, but I think we all need a good story about the internet. It starts in 2021, when I took a sabbatical and got a little workspace to write a design book.

The Pitt got greenlit for a season 3, out next February, and the announcement has very funny comment from HBO chairman Casey Bloys that’s like “yeah, turns out if you just make a TV show like how we used to make TV shows you can have a 15+ episode season every year 🤷♂️”

I can’t stress this enough. The state of 4th Amendment law is that the cops can’t force you to type in a passcode but they can force you to swipe your finger or present your face. Never stop using passcodes/passwords to unlock your devices. And consider additional code to unlock Signal.

my snail van has very close to no computer and the carburettor (replaced in modern vehicles by electronic fuel injection) is designed in such a way that if you turn left too suddenly before it warms up, it starves the engine and you stall. only going left and only when cold. you want 5% computer.

If you need something positive to do to help your community right now that will cost nothing but time, go give blood. Someone is always in need. (A family member's life was saved by donated blood.) For a list of blood donation centers & blood drives within 20 miles of your zip code, search AABB:

* The donor eligibility guidelines have changed *considerably* in the last few years due to updated science and many people who weren't eligible now are. In particular, the UK/EU travel ban is completely gone and the blanket ban on MSM has been converted to an all-gender behavioral risk screening.

Buy a transistor radio. An AM FM NOAA one that uses AA batteries. Buy a flashlight that runs on AA batteries. Buy a 20 pack of AA batteries. Buy a box of 12 hour long burn candles. But some storm proof matches. Put all these in a ziplock gallon bag. Put the bag in a drawer.
