Today’s view while out walking

Today’s walk was rainy but calm. I was able to use the track around the playing fields since there’s no school and no sports today. Just me and the crows most of the time.

I had such a nice walk today: Cool but not cold, cloudy, no need for sunglasses Very few cars, except I keep passing or being passed by the same Amazon delivery truck as we wind through the neighborhood In the distance I can hear pings and cheers from the baseball field

I had to call a lady back today and she was like I’m holding my newborn and I’m chasing my toddler and I’m in a store. And I was like just call me back in a couple years.

I parallel parked so bad that I had to leave and find a new space.

I saw a thing that said babies born this year will be entering high school in the year 2040 which does not even sound like a real year.

Yes, yes I did have to run errands in the rain, again. But… the hills are starting to get GREEN again! I cannot emphasize this enough: YAY!!

Scientists have discovered returning to bed "for just a little bit" after breakfast has positive health effects so numerous they're not even bothering to list them. Plus, them scientists? They so comfy right now. Too comfy for lists!

Trouble

I went into an extremely crowded store. I had a cart and there was nowhere to push it and nowhere to put it and nowhere to stop and look. When I went to the next store, I did not get a cart. Freedom washed over me. Zipping through crowds, light on my feet, an unencumbered sprite.

The cat thinks a cold, dark night is a perfect time to go outside to chase squirrels. But the door to the deck will not be opened for her. This is the time for the raccoons, owls, and the creatures of the night.

What a tragedy. I guess I’ll have to eat this one.

today’s affirmation: I am within the acceptable range of deviation. I am a perfectly roasted quail. if I was a car the mechanics would find nothing weird or rodent related in my air filter. I am upright. There are no stones or excess debris in my shoes. I still have all my bones.

Slipped a little on an actual banana peel left on the actual sidewalk in this actual city. I assume I’m going hear Judy Garland singing on a trolley next & I’ll toss an amiable newspaper stand man a nickel for a paper & a pack of chewing gum.

How appropriately named is the Cold Moon on this chilly evening of -21°C or -6° F.

Trees. Yep, that’s it. Just some pretty trees, because I don’t seem to have much to tell y’all lately.

Today, on an early morning walk through my hometown, the wind delivered the scent of a pizzeria prepping for the day, and I was instantly transported to 1980, and the humid back room of Vincent’s, my best friend and I pumping the quarters we’d stolen from our moms’ purses into the Asteroids machine.

The best time to go to bed was half an hour ago. The second best time is now.

Our dog gets a little wound up when she hears geese overhead so I hold her paw until they’re gone like we’re waiting together in an air raid shelter in WWII London

Yesterday, at a bookstore, I got into an indecisive spiral about which novel to choose & everything seemed jagged & wrong & I sort of felt as if hounds were pursuing me & I ended up in front of Moll goddamn Flanders, like, “Maybe?”

The HOA* guys have already cleaned up the leaves from this weekend. *Neighborhood where I walk, not where I live.

Today's date, 9/25/2025, is probably the last date of our lifetime where the month, day, and year are all square numbers 😱 The next time this will happen is on 1/1/2116.

Our Party City closed down and they didn’t even put the Spirit Halloween in it. Too soon I guess.
