Society in general understands that when someone proverbially "comes out of the closet" they are not someone who is suddenly deciding to be gay; they are someone who is no longer hiding. We understand that a person hiding or suppressing their sexuality is not a neutral state, it is a traumatic one.

I'm reluctant to speak up on trans topics these days because it's often not worth the pain caused, so I'm probably going to regret this, but disappointingly a lot of people need to hear this. Accusing trans women of "male socialization" is an astonishingly cruel, callous, and spiteful thing to say.
