As all this disgusting Epstein shit starts surfacing more and more, I hope we don't lose sight of the fact that apparently every major media outlet knew everything and instead spent their time money and energy attacking the trans community.

Anyway this entire thread is actually about how Emmylou Harris released the best album of her life in the 90s and I need, like, Natalie Merchant and Alanis Morrisette to up their fucking game.

Maybe you're a normal Democratic liberal. Ask yourself: Does the party inspire you? Do you think it's been effective at fighting the dire situation we're in? Do you feel represented in the party? Are you bothered that anyone can be a Democrat, and there are no democratic processes inside the party?

RIP Peter Watkins. His whole filmography was an incisive stab to the gut. If you've never seen his work, I recommend starting with Punishment Park, an eternally troubling look at the swings of authoritarianism in motion. It's a masterpiece.

I get why TechCrunch would write it this way, but I largely disagree with this framing. The broad conversation here is about power, respect, control and whether the voices of the vulnerable are taken seriously. This is the story of a leader and a team showing that they don’t get that.

Yes, it’s a weird theory. But no more weird than the president posting an AI video of himself promising to give Americans a magic bed that could regenerate limbs.

I feel like the day you learn you can't unilaterally overrule the First Amendment via getting your ass kicked by Jimmy Kimmel might be a bad day to announce you've discovered one weird trick to undo millennia of medical science. I feel like you might not be projecting the strength you think you are.

Wrote a thing about the Christian industrial complex art historian in charge of destroying academia and the left by calling them all terrorists’ book about art and democracy: “Coates’s idea of liberty seems ready to accommodate a lot of tyranny to get things done.”

Reminder that The republicans do not plan on being voted out of power. They have spent decades attempting to get this far they will not be stopped by voting. They are out in the open building the systems needed to never lose power and hold elections and have been for 40 years.

Secret police” got the name because they do surveillance and are often plain-clothed (or in ICE’s case masked). But the thing that has defined them since the 18th century was that they operate independently of civil police with a goal of maintaining social and political control. Again, that’s ICE.

We have to win. We will, ultimately. I believe that. I do not question that. But we do not have time to fuck around because people are being slaughtered now. They are being forced to suffer now. And their lives are precious. So please God, let this week be the match that ignites us all.
