2025's been a strange year for me as an artist (and I really gotta remember to post the rest of the work I've made this year). I took some classes on environment sketching and animal sketching (although the former was a lot more intensive than the latter). Hoping next year is even better

I'm really happy about my setting analysis of Felix Isaacs' "The Wildsea." I think it's extremely fun to play with implications that a text provides, and try to extrapolate out what that world might be like using those prompts

My video on Andor and Jess Levine's "Going Rogue" was really important to me, not just because I love Star Wars so much, but because Jess' personal insights and voice helped me find hope in the grim beginning of this shitty year

My comparison of Haunted Table Games' "Triangle Agency" to the video game "Control" was extremely fun. Loved how Huett & Ireland made a game of reading the text itself, and talked about how both media are interested in various narrators trying to "control" you.

And my read of Takuma Okada's "Stewpot" against the typical fantasies of Dungeons and Dragons was unexpectedly very enjoyable. I don't love to take shots at D&D, but Takuma deftly inverts the power fantasy it sells, imagining a life beyond adventuring, which rules.

All of this is a lot of time, work, and if I want to hire editors and consultants, it can get expensive. If I've made something you enjoyed this year, please consider kicking me a few bucks on Patreon, it's the only way I can keep justifying increasingly elaborate work.

We've spent 2025 on sabbatical. Or, well, some of 2025. On something like a sabbatical. It didn't really go as intended. Anyhow, Kali wrote about it, with some sabbatical takeaways at the end about making games not so much because you want to but because you need to.
