Here's a rule change for your OSR games: Charm is gone. Or rather, it is reflavored. It is now called Love. The rules are basically the same, but the person or monster is in love with you for the duration. How does this change how NPCs see the spell? How does this change how PCs interact with it?

I can see space for both "The king is always here. 2 knights always guard him. They will challenge intruders immediately and attack" and "The mess hall has 3d6 knights at any point (Roll reaction when you enter to see what the knights assume about you being there)" But! 1/2

What a joy it is to read Middle-earth stories written and illustrated with such genuine love. Wilmot's Very Strange Stone by Kay Woollard, one of my favorite Tolkien artists.

I have thought for a while that I liked binary resolution (having tried for years as a GM to master "partial successes" from PbtA). But on reflection, I realized WORM uses four scales: great success, success, failure, great failure. That gradation feels right to my style of GMing.

I never quite tired of tombs/castles, but I do think its always fun to apply the powers of the mythic underword to IRL structures and dungeonize them-- e.g. The Crystal Palace What would 1d6 reskined monsters, treasures, & traps of this place would be? What would be something to talk to here?
