Picture it. Norfolk. 2015. BFG drank a bunch of New Amsterdam at a party and got That Feeling. Went and sat on the porch, and about five minutes later the contents of my stomach ended up going over the side of the porch. Can’t even look at a bottle of New Amsterdam now.

Saliva flooding your mouth, the sting of bile coming up your throat, and THEN your stomach starts knocking. You’re swallowing hard trying to fight it off, but your stomach tells you it’s above you now. All you can do is find privacy in time.

Films have to work on their depictions of vomiting. No one expels a single mouthful and then just coughs. The actor needs to spend at least a full minute gagging involuntarily and occasionally retching and spitting out more. THAT is what vomiting is actually like.
