The basic error in this judgment, imo, is the assumption that what the judge describes as 'gender ideology' is contestable. In the Equality Act Parliament decided it is not. For the same reason as the police do not need to be 'impartial' on racism they do not need to be 'impartial' on transphobia.

There's a lot of bristling when folk criticise judges - "they're independent! They're only applying the law! They can't defend themselves! This is how extremists react!" - but the UK's judiciary is conducting itself barely any better than the US' deeply partisan courts when it comes to LGBTI+ folk

Regardless of people's positions on police at pride this is a chilling decision - outright adopting the rhetoric of the anti-trans (and now openly anti-LGBTQ) movement and making solidarity with the community a display of legal impartiality. The British judicial profession is out for us.
