Like the Megadrive core and what Jotego does is based on having a physical board and delidding but if you look at the X68000 core it was in very bad shape for a very long time and just does not behave correctly. Feels kinda important!

One thing that I have not seen a good spreadsheet for is a comprehensive list of which MiSTer cores are actually based on delidding the chips and doing the very hard FPGA work and which are just kind of weird hand ported emulators or using the code as documentation for hardware behavior
