I think I'm already running out of things to do in the new Tomodachi Life. It was always that kinda game but remembered getting more longevity out of the 3DS version. Maybe it was just where I was at in my life.

The new Tomodachi Life apparently began development in 2017. So it had an incredibly long development and stuff still had to be cut for time. I think knowing they worked on what's there for 9 years though makes me more forgiving of what's missing www.nintendo.com/us/whatsnew/...

I have tons of false memories of the 3DS Tomodachi Life. I remember it being easier to get Miis together (it wasn't), and having more agency over Miis (you didn't). I think the main difference is I just had more time to play the 3DS version so things being random didn't bother me at all

In many ways the new Tomodachi Life is superior to the 3DS version. I enjoy the expanded Mii customization, the quirks, and I think the variety of interactions, games and scenes has improved. Relationship and gender options are great

Do you think people behave better in sports than they do in gaming? I was just thinking that a lot of the rudeness and elitism from gaming spaces comes from a supposed competition, that trash talking is part of the "fun," but I don't know enough about sports to know if the same thing happens there.

I have reverted back to using cookbooks and shopping in stores and it has been interesting. I really like having technology make so much information available, but I feel much better about my decisions when I have more limited input. I'm shifting from "is it the perfect choice" to "this seems good."

I had to rewatch an old video I made in 2015 for something unrelated to YouTube and oh my god. I know you are supposed to cringe at your past self because it is a sign of growth but it is a different kind of pain to know that this moment was also the time in my life when I had the most eyes on me.

Here is a little thread of my Pokopia progress (hours: 190). First is my Wasteland. I built most of what's here before unlocking Magnemite, I haven't ever really gotten into builder games before outside of The Sims so I had to learn as I went.

It is absolutely insane that Champions begins with a tutorial explaining type advantage. Like... you're not going to really enjoy this game if you need that explained to you.

As a collector, I would like to pass on wisdom to the new game and TCG collectors out there. Only get cards or collectables graded by an authenticator organization if you are planning to sell in the short term. Grading by encasing in a plastic slab is NOT a good preservation strategy long term.

Reading critique of anime and games from the 90s makes me appreciate how much information we just have at our fingertips now. An average person can get the whole picture of something in seconds now, including localization and adaptation changes, info about the people involved and broader context.

Critique is not mutually exclusive to enjoyment. I deeply love and enjoy everything I write about (with some notable exceptions). I just can't stop thinking about it and that's why I write critique. And I find the mechanics and layers of art fascinating and understanding them is part of how I enjoy.

It's crazy that you can't trade items in Pokopia. I need a Seedot lamp. Everyone has multiples they don't want. But all I can do is take a picture of their lamp and scrape together 5 rare Pokemetal ingots to print one. The idea of trading rare drops was literally the thing that inspired Pokemon lol

I built Pokemon houses all around the house I built for myself like a little neighborhood, which is fun because there are Pokemon everywhere I go, but it also means when I turn the game on there are like 20 Pokemon in my tiny house and I can't get out the door

Do I actually hurt more when I sit for the entire day playing video games than I did when I was younger or am I simply just more aware of my own needs than I was back then?

Pokopia has what I was missing from both Minecraft and Animal Crossing tbh. It's derivative in a good way, it takes ideas established in other works and builds on it in a way that is meaningful and interesting.

I am not rushing through Pokopia, I am just letting my creative impulses drive progress. I love this and don't want it to end

Pokopia might just be what I want Pokemon to be from now on?
