I'm starting to think that a cultural boycott is actually the most humane way to pressure a country like Israel. It's not coercive. It doesn't cost any lives. It barely even costs any livelihoods. The impact is powerful but almost entirely psychological.

Same happened where I live. Was constantly in use - mainly tennis but also football, cricket, learning to ride a scooter or bike. Now, completely empty and unused.

Guys my experiences are completely subjective, but I gotta be honest, if you log off social media and go about your day for a couple hours, it really does not feel like America is in mourning.

I honestly believe everyone needs to stop and consider how far

have raised the bar for older bands in their second existence. Antidepressants is a 10/10, and so were their three albums before it. Suede sound like they're winding UP, not down. And you won't see a better live act.

Dismayed by the "I loathe Gl**ner but his arrest should scare us all" takes. The bar for arrest over a social media post *should be extremely high*, but a guy who's harassed trans people 19 hours a day for 8 years, telling his 600k fans to attack any trans women they see, clears that bar v easily?

I would just like to congratulate everyone smugly commenting on the current Radiohead controversy with "I never liked them anyway 😏". as ever, when an artist gets called out for shitty behaviour, it's good to centre the most important thing - how that shitty behaviour validates your superior taste

So hard, watching this, to rein in that knee-jerk (male?) desire that violence be met with greater violence. Not proud of how much I want these bullying old cunts to get their heads kicked in.

Neither the screenshot nor the rest of the review remotely suggests that the film "ruins" anything. It even implies that the film does a good job in retaining major features of the novel. Duncan's had a mare here.

Here was me thinking putting red paint on things where it didn't belong was an expression of legitimate concerns that we should all acknowledge and indulge. I wouldn't advise breaking the law but at the same time don't appreciate being asked to sympathise with the plight of PE.

I can recommend this as I am half way through and thoroughly enjoying it. I got the paperback so I could performatively read it outside a coffee shop in order to get chatted up by Winona Ryder. This has yet to happen. Might try a different coffee shop.

This, from the Quakers, is a pretty good example of how to resist pressure from bigot lobbying groups. Effectively “we legally can allow trans people to use the loo, we morally should, and we tried it and nothing bad happened”

The chant about the Premier League being corrupt only makes sense in the context of that red card if the suggestion is that they paid Gordon to make an absolutely stupid and reckless challenge.

My rule of thumb is that a protest is not newsworthy if it draws a smaller crowd then I would get at a Lib Dem event for a session titled 'Why the British Standard for letterboxes is a failure'. But looking at the news, I see my rule of thumb is once again failing.

The Labour Party is currently: – Providing intelligence and material support to a right-wing religious ethnostate carrying out a genocide – Arresting pensioners for holding signs – Legally classifying a significant portion the public as terrorists – Attempting to ban trans people from public life

ITV were interviewing a guy who was holding a white flag in the street in early 2024. As soon as the cameraman switched off his camera and they started to walk away, an IDF sniper shot the white guy flag through the heart. The problem here has not been a failure of understanding.
