This is IMO why you can't understand Morgan McSweeney's approach to politics without reference to Liz Kendall (whose campaign he managed) getting 4.5 per cent, a contest from which he basically took the lesson 'don't try and argue for something, ever'.

It was always funny to see Dickie get all het up about crowd barracking. "I can't help it if it rains, can I?" he would shout, as a host of seat cushions came hurtling in his direction.

It makes me laugh how the BBC are more than comfortable using 'far right' for foreign politicians, but so obviously squeamish about using it for Farage and Tory extremism.

Nigel Farage is, and always was, far right, from his schooldays. The squeamishness about calling him out is one of the reasons weโre in such a terrible state today.

The sordid joys of that Golden Shot episode on ITVX are manifold. I won't spoil it, but look out for the couple from Manchester who look like a 1973 Myra Hindley and Ian Brady.

I strongly believe that British TV should have ended in 2000, at which point we should have all gone outside to till the land of our feudal masters. To be fair, watching ITV now does feel like that did happen.
