Getting in a few more demos. One that isn't QUITE there yet (IMO) is Knitewings. Now, the concept - Space Harrier/After Burner with roguelite stuff - is good! But the goofy character models, the stiff enemy animation and the too-bright, too-opaque projectiles hurt readability. Honestly, fixable.

Iji is a masterpiece. It is the first "artsy intelligent indie game" I played. It defined my taste. It needs a modern reassessment for how huge it was. It was #2 on TIGsource behind Cave Story.

Recommend playing Qud with minimap so you can appreciate the spaces. There's a lot to love about this game, but if you show up with a level generation algorithm that gives me organic fun spaces to expore, I will stick around! E.g. squirrely caves like a monstrous wormery here:
