The more accurate observation for ICE and Border Patrol is not that they're military wannabes who couldn't hack it in the service, it's that they're military short-timers. Usually guys with low ambition and drive who didn't advance, and with an MOS that doesn't prepare them well for civilian jobs.

I would add that body cam footage is used as evidence against suspects orders of magnitude more often than it’s used to hold officers accountable. It’s difficult to use against cops, but has contributed massively to the surveillance state.
