At the end of the day doesn’t matter if we like/admire folks they decide to test out full blown authoritarian violations of the constitution on. It matters that we fight for everyone to be protected by the constitution. Solidarity is not the same as fandom or friendship, solidarity is what wins.

In a true "free press" the arrest of ANY journalist is taken as an attack on ALL journalists. But our media is not free, most of it is owned by allies of the regime, billionaires/corporations who supported his campaign and celebrated his inauguration. This is a test, and they are likely to fail it.

Arresting Black journalists is also vice signaling. Their base is racist and hates journalists and they want to get them excited again. The mainstream media industry has never protected Black journalists or journalists of color the way it should.

"We're not with the activists we're just reporting on them." This is from Don Lemon's reporting at the St. Paul church. Arresting journalists for simply highlighting what's happening in this country is a gross violation of our First Amendment rights. He must be released immediately.

I think it’s worth keeping in mind that the specific church that was protested, inspiring these outrageous constitutional violations by DOJ, is part of the network of Christian Nationalist churches tied to Doug Wilson and attended by Pete Hegseth.

The fact that *both* of the churches that have made news in Minneapolis for pro-ICE links/positions have ties to the Doug Wilson-verse (which, for those keeping track, is who oversees the church Sec. Pete Hegseth now attends) feels like evidence that the universe's writers are just getting lazy.

Jesus Christ. The "pivot" lasted about 15 minutes. Arresting a black journalist under the Ku Klux Klan Act for covering a pro-immigration protest at a Christian nationalist church led by an ICE officer is the perfect encapsulation of this administration's authoritarianism, racism, and trolling.

Lemon has national recognition, but he wasn't the only one arrested for covering the church protest. Don't lose sight.

DHS has a whole citizen detainment system set up in Minnesota. They snatch citizens off the street (often with proof they are citizens), detain them for a few hours, steal their phones, then release them into the cold. It ain’t about deporting citizens; it’s about terrorizing a whole population.
