One of the defining characteristics of this Labour government is the speed at which it caves in to right wing populism. The attack on trans people was the first example: rather than resisting, Starmer caved. Now, the same is happening with immigrants. Rather than stand and fight, Starmer collapses.

TERFs regard people like Lizzy as just collateral damage, and believe hating trans people justifies it. The right-wingers they make common cause with want all women to be tradwives. Either way, women of all kinds are the targets.

Something that Lucy Powell said recently that hit the nail on the head: Starmer has packed his government with people who agree with him. This is exactly what Johnson did, and it produced an environment where talent was irrelevant, and loyalty was everything. It didn't work for Johnson, either.
