It has been six years since the Gender Autonomy Act was passed in Iceland. In those six years, none of the usual fears that anti-trans advocates warn against have manifested - and trans people, non-binary people and intersex people have enjoyed increased rights and protections.

Yup, always good to have and follow policies for dealing with conflict and disagreement in workplaces and organisations, otherwise this leaves space for the litigious to target and pull people into drawn out, exhausting and harmful processes. I should know...

I have had death threats for my work on trans rights. I have been stalked. I have had people try and have me thrown out of my University. I am by no means alone, and lots of trans-inclusive academics have spoken publicly about the violence and harassment they face. But no mention of that here.

Nobody owes you a gender performance. I believe in the radical proposition that gender should be fun and life-affirming, not an obligation assigned without consent. If you're not having fun in your gender, or trying to piss all over someone else's fun with theirs, you're definitely doing it wrong.
