The right move is and has always been “make MORE games available in MORE places.” Focus on tech was a doomed move off rip. A handheld PS3.5 in an age of the mainstream playing on their phones is kind of peak.

Not saying Nintendo is beyond criticism, but it’s so clear to me that they are the winner of this generation despite being one behind on tech. I also firmly believe launching a NEW gen anytime soon is a death rattle waiting. Just a wild idea to try and push new tech now.

A final thought on Bluepoint. Sony’s live service push and Jim Ryan are clearly the villains here, but so are the overall bloat of dev cycles. I’m dying to know what the red tape looks like that kept that studio from making something other than that GOW live service title. They lost a generation.

Nothing I want to read more in two weeks than “Konami buys Bluepoint.” The idea of that company SPECIFICALLY becoming the home of the best remake studio in the game is thrilling. I’d buy a console for a 2029 Bluepoint Metal Gear remake.
