Rewatching THE DEPARTED. One of my all time great film memories was seeing this at a prerelease screening in Boston. There were seats roped off for guests of the Wahlbergs and Dropkick Murphys. The place absolutely lost their shit when that title card dropped, and kept losing it through the finish.

It’s not good news if ONE BATTLE loses money - the industry desires as many examples they can have of why you don’t give good directors money to make what they want - but SINNERS showed the trades will never call such films an unqualified success either.

I used to be team “Tarantino’s never gonna make that tenth film” but with ONE BATTLE’s Vistavision generating some degree of buzz/commercial interest, there’s no way he’s not gonna have his own Vistavision film in motion within the next year.

Not seeing ONE BATTLE AFTER ANOTHER til Monday because my high school class didn’t consult me or the movie gods when planning our 20-year reunion, an event everyone has told me I’m insane for flying out for, but here we are.

One of the strangers abilities I’ve picked up over the past few years, when I’m particularly sleepy in the middle of the day, is being able to shut my eyes for about fifteen minutes, and somewhere in those minutes get roughly 30 seconds of sleep, and feel totally refreshed after. Real game changer.

It is not a coincidence that most of the videos you see of ICE agents using excessive force seem to feature unarmed women half their size. 🙃
