Let’s be clear, because I see a lot of people glossing over this. These allegations are of domestic abuse and physical violence. You could get an order of protection based on these allegations. Domestic abuse isn’t about “hitting,” it’s about using violence and coercion to control your partner.

Revisiting the critical reaction to A.I. after revisiting A.I. last night and man….I know “audiences” don’t trust “critics” for usually the wrong reasons, but stuff like this really does give fuel to the same ideological fire. So many people so sure they know who Spielberg is and what he can do.

The fact that they were ever in favor of them is such a classic American thing. “Data center” doesn’t even SOUND good but even still they’re like “maybe there’s some money in it?”

“Second run theaters” are a close runner up to “everything on 35mm” among things I miss about moviegoing when I was younger. And really the two going hand in hand. Paying sometimes as little as $1 for a 35mm print of a film you either missed or just wanted to keep seeing…that was good shit.

Just watched A.I. on 35mm. Whoever said Janusz Kaminski needed to stop making movies that look fucking insane is an enemy of cinema.
