Have been playing Metamor Jupiter, a very pretty and vibe-y PCE shooter with some big design problems. But perhaps the most interesting thing is the folk involved. Developed by Flight Plan, creators of Black Matrix / Summon Night, and scored by Masaya Matsuura of Parappa / Vib Ribbon. Bizarre!

PC Engine Quest game number 32. Plays things too straight to really work as a parody, and kind of just comes off as someone making a Sailor Moon RPG with the serial numbers filed off. And while the idea of a magical girl RPG is inspired, it's far too stripped down mechanically to be interesting.

You have so few strategic options in early game Cosmic Fantasy because Yuu's powers are only triggered at specific story points and your only healing item is worthless for bosses. So the third boss is a mandatory choice between grinding out multiple levels or having this fucker steal all your gold.

The only thing stopping us from still having transparent electronics in 2026 with colour variants like "sherbet melon" is cowardice.
