The second one here (with the white background) is interesting because the line actually is translated in the English version and displays correctly. But because they stripped away the black shadow from the English font, you can't see it (it's completely white text on a white background).

If you feel that use of AI art assets at any stage of the process is an automatic out, but ChatGPT translations are fine if they're "checked" by people, it might be worth asking yourself why that is. Because it sounds a whole lot like valuing the work of translators less than other creatives to me.

I’m not surprised we’re at the point where ai/machine translation is becoming normal for fan translation. I’ve seen it before. I more wonder if people usually opposed to ai art etc will be as vocal, or if it will go out the window and the desire to play Japanese games will triumph.
