If your response to having your methods called into question is to immediately scream about how your beliefs are being questioned, you are a child and can (indeed should) be ignored completely. Something stupid doesn't become not stupid because you were thinking good thoughts whilst doing it.

One of the conceits of UK constitutional history is that how the UK is configured has existed since time immemorial and is eternal. No: the improvisations of 1707, 1801 and 1922 were work-arounds owing to the politics of the time. The gloss of our "ancient constitution" was painted on afterwards.

The Iranians have been protesting against the Islamic regime for two weeks. The whole country is shut down. They have the guns; we have nothing. They have to win every night; we have to win only once.

Kemi Badenoch thinks Donald Trump demanding the Danish territory of Greenland (in breach of NATO rules) is a "second-order issue". No doubt the latest culture war on Twitter/X is, for Badenoch, a first-order issue.

Itās genuinely wild that the United States spent decades building an elaborate rules-based international order which de facto cemented its permanent status as the dominant global hegemon, sustained by ideology rather than might, and now is just blowing it all up for literally no reason

What we're seeing is exactly what we saw in the late 1940s, the late 1960s and the mid- to late 1970s: a concerted and hysterical campaign to delegitimise a Labour government, and indeed the very idea of Labour governments at all.

The comparisons between McSweeney and Campbell are missing the point. We hated Campbell because his job was to be hated. He took the flak for all the bad shit of New Labour so Blair could take the credit for the good stuff. He had a job and he did it. We hate McSweeney because he's incompetent.
