virginia tech's ETD repository has been crashing so often from being scraped by so many bots that they've had to close off external, non-university access. In case you needed more evidence of how LLM training hurts open access.

Like let this be over. We need to be done with people who care more about elections and playing 3d space chess vs actually representing the will and needs of the people they were elected to represent. And we need people with actual spines

Next year, the EU will require cars to have buttons & dials -- not just touchscreens -- to get a top safety rating. This is a great move. Drivers can fiddle with knobs & buttons without taking their eyes off the road, but they can't do that with touchscreens. (Even better: Tesla will hate this)

Cars will need fewer screens and more buttons to earn five-star safety rating in Europe

I think one of my most controversial hot takes is that private school should be largely illegal. I might be convinced that there's a few scenarios where it's needed, but on the whole, people should just not be allowed to send their kids to private schools.

Anyone who says React adds structure and prevents spaghetti code is lying (to you or themselves). You know what stops spaghetti code? Good docs and developer discipline. That's bigger than tooling. Stop throwing tech at people problems.

The reason A.I. is being shoved down our throats is shareholders want a return on their investment. Every company that integrates this crappy tech into their products knows you don't want it, but they've sunk too much money into it and don't care. Turn it off, don't use it, don't look back.

wild that people who definitely got bullied in high school are still desperate for the approval of bullies. it would be hilarious that the bullied nerds turned billionaires of this world were living out movie tropes if that werenāt about to be a major factor in the downfall of the united states.
