All Toronto's growth should be going in the (comfortable) blue places; the reality is precisely the opposite. Intensify the house neighbourhoods and heavily restrict cars. The right answer by every metric.

I think one of the big issues about P3s (Public-Private Partnerships) that we don't talk about is how blame is shifted onto public agencies for failures of the private sector. Yes Metrolinx and TTC have some issues, but I see no public criticism of Mosaic Transit Group, the consortium. (1/2)

i knew exactly who it was before i even opened it and it’s nothing new: The only answer is subways everywhere, and they can built cheap if they were elevated. Sorry, I would rather spend money making surface transit faster than blowing money on subway lines.

The Finch LRT will hopefully force Toronto to reckon with two things: that street based transit will *almost* never compete with driving (especially in the burbs) and that people really care about speed. My new piece in the Toronto Star highlights that and makes the case for subways and railways.

King Street and Queen Street in Toronto could and should be like this, just with tram wires and snow in winter. Cars can use Richmond and Adelaide. Parking has already been removed and loading bay access can be maintained as with Sydney’s George Street. We already have the trams, just need to do it!
