A priority for city hall must be to fight congestion & help residents move around their city. Rather than grow the bureaucracy with a new $300k salary position, let’s ensure the next manager of transportation services is someone who can get results. Call them Czar if you want to.

Toronto will be hosting the FIFA World Cup in only a few months. Traffic is already bad, and it could get significantly worse for both visitors and residents if there isn’t a plan. I’m asking City Hall to focus now on ensuring people can get to where they need to go.

Tonight, on the first night of Hanukkah, our Jewish community came together to light the menorah with the Chabad, here in the heart of Midtown Toronto. We will not allow darkness to prevent us from celebrating the light.

The Ontario Science Centre property at 770 Don Mills Rd doesn’t belong to Doug Ford. It belongs to the TRCA and the City of Toronto. I’m asking council to ensure that this architectural masterpiece be kept in a state of good repair so it can one day serve the public again.

With billions of tax dollars spent, years of delays and businesses and communities impacted by construction, new Rapid Transit lines must be able to move faster than the buses they’ve replaced.

I’m advocating for the Finch and Eglinton lines, and transit across our city, to have full signal priority. This will help get people moving, decrease traffic congestion and provide a “better way” that’s faster and more reliable to get around Toronto. Let’s get this done.

It’s wrong that the Finch & Eglinton LRTs don’t have signal priority. Billions of dollars were spent, only for “rapid transit” to go slower than the buses it replaced. Last Spring at Council, I moved for signal priority on these lines. The 2026 budget must fund this priority.

As the Finch LRT opens, there’s a few questions that I’d like answered. Who chose this Sunday as the opening date and will the test results demonstrating that it’s safe and functional be shared with the public?…

Together, TTC workers & I are demanding answers about the safety of the Eglinton LRT and calling on the province for a public inquiry into the years of delays, mismanagement, cost overruns, and impacts on communities and businesses to ensure the same mistakes are never repeated.

We need to ensure that mental health crises are addressed effectively & safely. The Mobile Crisis Intervention Teams are a critical tool to keep people safe. I'll be working closely with healthcare professionals & police to defend the program from closure.

Even when Doug Ford doesn’t make you a priority, when his own political interests are threatened, he backs down. I spoke about how we took a strong stand and fought back on the province’s recent attack on tenants’ rights through Bill 60.

Our veterans have taken care of us by keeping the peace, protecting our country and defending our freedoms. Together, we have a responsibility to take care of them. This week, I’m asking council to help ensure when our heroes come home, they always have a home to come back to.

Having a local neighbourhood cafe contributes to a sense of community. A local grocer or convenience store nearby supports a walkable and livable city. I’m moving this motion to allow for this opportunity in communities that would welcome it. It’s time to lead.

When its snows, Torontonians need a winter city that is safe and accessible. The snow needs to be actually cleared from both our sidewalks and roads. The communications from City Hall need to be honest and transparent. And most importantly, the job needs to get done.

I absolutely love and appreciate the community-focused work led by Jenni King Feheley and her team at St. Michael and All Angels Church. I was delighted to help with funding for a new Homework Club to support kids with their studies, and give them a place where they belong.

I enjoyed the Little Jamaica Night Market and was happy to support an event that transformed a parking lot into a place for creativity and community. There were a lot of heavy hearts there thinking of loved ones in the Caribbean. Please donate to hurricane relief efforts to help people in Jamaica.

Toronto needs to act like a big global city. The World Series was a major event, and it was embarrassing how it was handled. I’m calling on the City, TTC and Metrolinx to be better prepared, and own up to mistakes, before we host the FIFA World Cup.

This post by the City of Toronto was really bad. And even worse, both Metrolinx and the TTC really should’ve been prepared for the possibility of a late game to avoid leaving thousands of people stranded. I’ll be raising this at tomorrow’s TTC board meeting.

In so many of our city’s neighborhoods, there’s a group of amazing residents who come together and put on pumpkin parades. I’ve had a fun evening visiting several of them. Thank you to the organizers- you help create community, and make life a little more magical for all of us.

Our city’s 1st responders are working tonight to keep our kids safe on Halloween. I called in about massive branches that could fall imminently at Wilfrid & Oswald. Police & Fire are here. These guys are so great, local kids are coming out to give them candy! I’m really grateful.

A while back, my 12 year-old daughter Molly told me that for the first time, I’m no longer invited to walk with her and her friends for trick-or-treating. Not because she doesn’t love me, I’m just too embarrassing. It was hard to hear. But then…the World Series. Have fun kids!

I joined Dan Seljak for a coffee at a neighborhood cafe (that would currently be banned from opening in Toronto) to discuss how local retail like this, along with grocers and convenience stores, contribute to our quality of life.

The Allen & Eglinton is horribly planned-where an expressway meets a main street. Traffic infiltrates nearby neighborhoods so badly it’s dysfunctional, unsafe & unfair. I’m asking the City to move forward with a plan to improve its design for both local residents & commuters.

While Doug Ford focuses attention on controversial ads, and distractions like pouring Crown Royal along with other gimmicks, he’s quietly dismantling rules meant to keep our elections free, fair & with limits on influence peddling. He’s put his own interests before our democracy.

Together, we fought back hard against a monstrous proposal that would’ve made life much less affordable and secure for so many Ontarians- and the Ford government capitulated. This is good news for renters across our province.

I enjoyed joining Dan Seljak on his walk today to learn more about the benefits of neighborhood retail and how local cafes and corner stores contribute to the vibrancy of cities and quality of life of residents. Dan is truly a civic treasure.
