This is Oxford Street, completely transformed & traffic-free. It was fantastic to see community spirit in the heart of the West End. By removing traffic, this created the space to stride, stroll and explore. This street is for everyone to enjoy with music, art, food and fun.

The UK’s recognition of the State of Palestine today is a historic step. I have long called for this, together with Palestinian Ambassador and Labour colleagues. At this most terrible of times in Gaza, we must redouble our efforts on a lasting ceasefire. This is the only way that hope can prevail.

Each week I provide a snapshot of the work my team and I are doing. Please note, this is a snapshot- not the sum total - of one aspect of what we do so that residents can understand the range of issues being raised. Over the last two weeks we have worked on 438 new cases.

I had a great time this weekend at Grrrl Zine Fair at the Old Waterworks. I even got to have a go at screen printing! We're so lucky to have such a fantastic, thriving creative community in Southend. Well done to all those who worked hard to make the event a success.

Today is a historic day. I welcome the UK’s recognition of Palestine as a step towards justice, dignity, and hope for the Palestinian people.

I have long campaigned and advocated for the recognition of a sovereign Palestinian state and I know how much of a crucial step this is towards achieving a two state solution and an end to this awful humanitarian crisis and conflict. I am pleased to see our UK government finally take that step.

Hugely important moment. Fully support the PM in determining the UK’s formal recognition of the State of Palestine. We continue to push for an immediate ceasefire, aid to reach those who need it, all hostages returned, and for long-term peace for Israelis and Palestinians via a two-state solution.

Today is a truly historic moment fulfilling a long held commitment of the Labour Party to recognise Palestine in order to progress peace on the Middle East. Now we need a ceasefire, the release of the hostages, an end to the bombardment and invasion and an agreement to start talking.
