Affordability is a lot more about how much you own, rather than how much you earn Rent has increased three times faster than income since the 1980s. This is why we need to build *a lot* more (social) homes. To get housing costs down and make life affordable.

Manufacturing employment continues to fall as machines keep getting better. The era of post-war mass employment manufacturing ended a long time ago. It is not coming back.

It's a fair point. My points: 1) This is the worst affordability on record. Just 1/3 of people feel comfortable. Less than during austerity. 2) Long-term drivers of low affordability (post-industrial fall in good jobs & lack of housing) mean people don't see a way they can afford a decent future

APPG member @jeevunsandher.bsky.social highlighted that the UK’s dependence on fossil fuels has led to an affordability crisis and asked how our transition away from fossil fuels will tackle the cost of household energy head on.

The affordability crisis is *also* a good jobs crisis Around 40% of full-time jobs pay less than £35k - the bare minimum needed to support a family If we want to make life affordable, we also need to (directly) create more good jobs

Want to know why we'll always trade more with Europe than the Rest of the World? Distance. Countries trade more with economies that are closer.

Just one in three of us felt financially comfortable in 2024 - a record low. That's lower than during the financial crisis and austerity when half of us felt comfortable. This is (one reason) there's so much anger. This is what we must fix.
