To get living standards rising permanently, we need to get prices down for good We do that by investing - like we are with cheaper, cleaner energy And by redistributing costs - like we are with childcare

Today’s inflation stats show us that we need to get prices down and living standards rising. The good news is that we *will*. Since 2021 overall prices have risen by 25%. But the price of essentials (food, rent, water) has risen by *far* more. This is hitting living standards.

To get living standards rising, we need to get energy bills down. Before recess, over 100 MPs in the Living Standards Coalition called for progressive changes to reduce bills for low- and middle-income households. Thanks to DESNZ and Ofgem for pursuing this.

🚨GREAT NEWS FOR PARENTS🚨 From the moment parental leave ends, parents will now get 30 hours of free childcare per week. That gets costs down today and is good for the public finances. Early years childcare means parents work today and their children earn more tomorrow. Win-Win.
