Today marks Workers' Memorial Day. Today we remember all those who have lost their lives to work-related illness or injury. Strong, organised unions keep people safe at work, which is why Labour have removed barriers to union recognition in our landmark Employment Rights Act. #IWMD26

Labour have given Nottinghamshire £6,008,067 to set up a new 'Experts at Hand' service. This means quicker, earlier, easier access to specialist support from educational psychologists, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists for Broxtowe children with SEND.

It was lovely to celebrate the official opening of the Small Business Units at Bennerley, alongside Alex Norris MP and Broxtowe Borough Council. This is a great opportunity for SME’s in Awsworth and will bring employment opportunities to the north of Broxtowe.

It was a real pleasure to celebrate the improvements to Beeston Station today with Friends of Beeston Station, Network Rail, East Midlands Railway, and the Railway Heritage Trust.

This week saw the conclusion of the Armed Forces Bill Select Committee, which I have been serving on for the last 9 weeks. We discussed the Government's planned changes to legislation including the Service Justice System, management of defence housing and the Reserve Forces.

I have written to the Secretary of State to share the feedback from my SEND roundtable I held on 10th April. Thank you so much to everyone who attended and shared your invaluable knowledge and experience of the SEND system. It is vitally important that we get these reforms right.

Nottingham College will see major improvements as it receives £3.77 million the from the Labour Government as part of a £307 million investment in colleges in England this year. This is fantastic news for so many of Broxtowe's young people who study at Nottingham College.

This week I met with Debbie from Nottinghamshire Hospice to hear about their campaign, alongside Hospice UK, for fair funding for hospices. I am incredible grateful for the invaluable support Nottinghamshire Hospice provides for our community.

Too many women have been ignored, dismissed and symptoms overlooked due to medical misogyny. This must end. This Labour Government has released it's renewed Women's Health Strategy, to tackle medical misogyny, and put women's and girl's voices at the centre of their healthcare.

The Labour Government is investing in expanding the urgent treatment centre at Queen's Medical Centre to tackle the scourge of corridor care. After 14 years of Tory neglect, and this support for our local hospital is the right step for delivering the urgent improvements patients deserve to see.

A huge thank you to everyone who attend my roundtable on proposed reforms to SEND system at Foxwood Academy today. I will write up all of the excellent feedback on the Schools White Paper that Broxtowe residents gave me today and submit it to the Education Secretary as part of the consultation.

I recently met with Dementia UK in Parliament. I spoke with specialist dementia Admiral Nurses and families affected by dementia to hear about how we can improve dementia care for people in Broxtowe and across the country.

I have received tons of emails from residents in the Beeston Rylands about the need to improve bus services for their area. Last week, I met with the Managing Director of CT4N, Barry Allitt, to raise the improvements that residents would like to see to the number 18 service.

🍎📚👟I am thrilled to announce that I have secured funding for 3 Best Start Family Hubs in Broxtowe. I know just how valuable Sure Start centres were for so many families, and how devastating it was when these services were cut to the bone by the Tory government.

🚌Residents in Beeston Rylands have been in touch to tell me that the buses serving this area are too infrequent and are too often late or don’t turn up at all. I asked the Transport Minister how the Government is supporting our Mayor Claire Ward to deliver better bus services for Beeston Rylands.

SECURED: £16 MILLION FOR MORE SEND PLACES IN NOTTINGHAMSHIRE Labour has just released the biggest single funding allocation on record to deliver more places for children with SEND, including £16 million for here in Nottinghamshire.

When I worked in the NHS I saw firsthand how valuable Sure Start services were to so many families, offering information, support, advice and guidance on everything from pregnancy, early health, parenting skills, education and childcare support through to starting school.

Fly-tippers and vandals to be forced into “clean up squads” and slapped with cleaning bill. The Labour Government plans to give local authorities powers to issue fly-tippers with so-called conditional cautions instead of being taken to court.

Flooding has had a devastating impact on families and businesses in Eastwood, and strengthening our local defences is absolutely essential. The Conservative government left flood defences in the worst condition on record, and it is our communities who paid the price.

If a woman reported domestic violence today, she may be told her case will not come to court until 2030. Along with other women MPs I have written to the Deputy Prime Minister in support of the Government’s plans to overhaul the court system which leaves victims waiting years for justice.

I've been contacted by many medical students and doctors who live in Broxtowe, who have explained how challenging it is to get a training job in the NHS. This week, the first step of fixing medical unemployment and training bottlenecks comes into law: the Medical Training (Prioritisation) Act.

It was great to hold a meeting of the Broxtowe Dyslexia Forum last week at Fairfield Spencer Academy. We discussed the journey parents go on to get support, the difference between screening and assessment and the call for a National Dyslexia Strategy.

Today I met with the Nottingham West Primary Care Network (PCN) to hear about the excellent work they are doing across the main areas of Beeston, Eastwood and Stapleford to improve health outcomes.

Many people in Broxtowe have been in touch with me about their student loans and it is clear that the current system is unfair and completely unsustainable.

Today the Government published the Schools White Paper, which outlines Labour's proposed changes to the SEND system. Our SEND system has failed to keep up with the growth in additional need we’ve seen, resulting in big barriers to the support children should be receiving.
