It was great to hold a meeting of the Broxtowe Dyslexia Forum last week at Fairfield Spencer Academy. We discussed the journey parents go on to get support, the difference between screening and assessment and the call for a National Dyslexia Strategy.

It was a pleasure to meet local constituent Joe who came to my surgery recently to talk about his work with Young Epilepsy. We discussed the challenges many children with epilepsy still face in education. We discussed how better awareness and training for teachers could make a huge difference.

It was really lovely to attend the public meeting at the Plessey Centre and endorse Beeston’s bid to be the UK’s first Town of Culture! I love everyone’s enthusiasm for Beeston, our culture and our community and it was great to hear everyone’s ideas for what we could do with £3 million for Beeston.

Really appreciated the opportunity to speak with Age UK about the campaign to end corridor care. In 2024–25, Nottingham and Nottinghamshire saw 7,367 A&E visits that resulted in people receiving care in corridors for over 12 hours. That is completely unacceptable.
