Great to catch up with Armed Forces Minister, Al Carns to discuss the launch of the new Defence Housing Strategy - the biggest renewal of Armed Forces family housing in more than half a century, including upgrades to 180 military homes in Broxtowe.

I am glad for the opportunity to catch up in Parliament this week with Donna Ockenden, affected families and and fellow MPs, all working together to push for safer maternity care. I’m deeply grateful to the affected families who have courageously shared their experiences.

🛍️ ☕ BACKING BROXTOWE'S SMALL BUSINESSES🧸 🛝 Today I asked Treasury Ministers how Labour will help small businesses in Broxtowe through business rate reform. I am proud to support Broxtowe's small businesses, they are the heart of our local economy and community.

I had the honour of planting a cross in the House of Commons Garden of Remembrance for all the people from Jamaica who who made the ultimate sacrifice, alongside the Deputy High Commissioner for Jamaica, Cyeth Denton-Watts. We will remember them.

Labour is delivering the safe and modern housing that our Armed Forces families deserve. It is fantastic that 180 homes in Broxtowe are set for vital upgrades. Labour is fulfilling our promise to provide safe, modern housing that reflects the dedication of those who serve.

An alarming number of dyslexic people need to access mental health services. Today I raised this in the House of Commons, asked the Minister for Health and Social Care to meet with me to discuss how we can better support dyslexic people in Broxtowe and across the UK.

It took moving school for my son to be identified as dyslexic. Early screening and diagnosis for people with dyslexia is absolutely essential. Being able to put in support early helps students to thrive at school, which sets them up for success for the rest of their life. #dyslexiaawarenessweek

Great to be on BBC Radio Nottingham this morning to talk about #dyslexiaawarenessweek, the work I am doing in Parliament to advocate for changes to the teacher training, screening in schools and Jamie's Dyslexia Revolution.

I was shocked when I learned that the teacher training curriculum only included 4 hours on all of SEND in their entire course! We must equip educators with the skills and knowledge to recognise dyslexia and teach in a way that is inclusive of dyslexic learners. #dyslexiaawarenessweek #daw25

The main focus of my work in the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Dyslexia has been on improving how our education system approaches dyslexia. 1 in 10 people have dyslexia, which means there are over 1 million dyslexic pupils in school. #DyslexiaAwarenessWeek

🩺 MAKING BROXTOWE HEALTHIER🏥 It was a pleasure to meet up with Paddy Tipping and Helen Smith from South Nottinghamshire Place-Based Partnership. We had a very productive conversation about tackling health inequality in Broxtowe, including plans for a central hub in Eastwood.

🛠️ SUPPORTING PEOPLE INTO WORK IN BROXTOWE💼 I really appreciated the time Robert and Susan from East Midlands DWP took to come and speak to me about how they support people into work in Broxtowe and their approach to tackling the disability employment gap.

🏫 CHILWELL SCHOOL 🏫 I had a fantastic time visiting Chilwell School recently. It was a delight to meet with Headteacher Sarah York, staff and students.

Yesterday, the UK Government recognised a Palestinian state. The Palestinian people have an inalienable right to self-determination, and Palestinians and Israelis have the right to live their lives in peace, free from violence and suffering.

It was fantastic to visit Chilwell School today and speak with the head about plans for rebuilding the school, how they support neurodiverse students and get a grilling from year 11 prefects!

🩺 LABOUR DELIVERS 5 MILLION MORE NHS APPOINTMENTS IN FIRST YEAR🩺 We promised to deliver 2 million more appointments in our first year. We delivered 5 million. That's the difference a Labour Government makes.

Today Labour introduced the Hillsborough Law into Parliament. This will once and for all end the culture of cover-ups and hiding the truth, ensuring transparency and accountability. This is for the 97, and their families who spent decades fighting for justice.

It was great to talk to representatives from We Own It about how to make Britain's railways great. I am pleased that Great British Railways & the public ownership programme is coming, and that trust in the service can be rebuilt with simpler fares, routes and improved services.
