The Government has officially recognised the State of Palestine, a long-overdue step and a manifesto commitment delivered. While this will not immediately end the man-made humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza, it is an important step toward a two-state solution, peace, and an end to the occupation.

Today is a momentous step towards justice. The Hillsborough Law has finally been laid in Parliament. This must not be another false start. I asked the Deputy PM to promise me it will be THE Hillsborough Law, that it will emerge from Parliament stronger - NOT weaker - and finally deliver #JFT97.

Nick Davies’ book Hack Attack is out today. It reveals Murdoch’s cover-up: millions of emails deleted - essential evidence of phone hacking. I raised the issue of the two-tier justice system in Parliament, where oligarchs act with impunity, dodge scrutiny, and show contempt for the law.

Families have been campaigning for the Hillsborough Law, with the duty of candour at its heart, for 36 years. Today I again pressed the Government to set out when it will finally bring it forward, to honour the promises made to all the victims of state cover-ups and finally deliver #JFT97.

Today I supported @liamconlon.bsky.social, alongside Derry Girls’ Siobhan McSweeney, in his campaign for Philomena’s Law. Survivors of Ireland’s Mother & Baby Homes living in Britain risk losing benefits if they accept compensation from the Irish Government. Philomena’s Law aims to fix this.

After winning major concessions from the government, the UC and PIP bill delivers an uprated UC, increased employment support, and scraps pointless reassessments for those with lifelong conditions. No one will lose a penny of PIP, and future changes will be co-produced with disabled groups.

I've written a letter with over 150 parliamentarians to the PM to bring forward the Hillsborough Law without delay. This legislation must reflect not just the name but precisely what has been campaigned for: a real and lasting change in how public institutions respond when things go wrong.

I've urged the Housing Minister to meet with me and residents to discuss the crisis at Beech & Willow Rise. Failed leasehold laws, historic corporate entities, and weak regulation mean my constituents could face unaffordable costs and even eviction. I'll keep doing all I can to support residents.

I welcome the Lord Chancellor’s commitment to tighten exclusion zones for offenders to better protect victims. In Knowsley, where domestic abuse rates are among the highest, action like this is vital. An offender’s freedom must never come before a victim’s right to feel — and be — safe.

Yesterday I brought Cabinet member Cllr Tony Brennan and @knowsleycouncil.bsky.social representatives to meet Minister Norris to talk about Willow Rise and Beech Rise. It's encouraging to see the Government engaging directly. The priority must be ensuring all 160 households are safely rehoused.
