Last night, I proudly voted to scrap the two-child benefit limit - a change that will lift 3,310 children out of poverty in Knowsley alone.

Loved visiting Knowsley Community College to meet students and staff last week, hearing the thoughts of some of Knowsley's brightest young people. This government is focused on major improvements for colleges and apprenticeships, I'll be taking feedback direct from KCC into Parliament.

I was privileged and lucky enough to spend time with inspirational mums and support staff from the @merseycarenhs.bsky.social Foundation Trust Building Attachments and Bonding Service. Thank you Lisa for arranging the visit and talking to me about breaking cycles of care and deprivation.

Out-of-control waste dumps have made headlines this week. For years, my constituents in Kirkby have lived with one. Stench and dust make people sick, force windows shut and close schools. I raised this at Deputy PMQs - my constituents need action to stop the Simonswood Stink.

Today we expect news on business rates for pubs & hospitality – but music venues and studios must not be overlooked. I’ve coordinated a letter from Labour MPs urging the Chancellor to act before rises force closures. For British artists to thrive, we must protect where music is made. 🎶

Today I remember the six million Jewish men, women and children who were murdered during the Holocaust. I think of the lives they should have lived, and the families they should have grown old with. Thank you to the survivors whose courage ensures that their memory lives on.

It was a huge mistake of the NEC not to give members in Gorton the chance to select someone of Andy Burnham’s stature as their candidate. This is a magnanimous response & I look forward to seeing Andy on the doorstep in the by-election.

📣BIG BUS SURVEY UPDATE📣

Great to visit Atherton Grange and see the work done to create a lovely retirement community in Kirkby. An example of how a brownfield site can be transformed using Modern Methods of Construction. This gives older people the chance to live independently and will be a real asset to the community.

For me, the Hillsborough Law has always been about putting families first. The Government is right to pause and listen - but any amendment that fails families on the duty of candour for individuals in the security service is a red line. #JFT97

I asked the PM to commit to an amendment to the Hillsborough Law that fully satisfies families & victims. Manchester Arena victims proved MI5 misled the public for 6 years, with no national security risk. Candour must apply to all of the state, inc individual security officers.

Joseph contacted me to visit the Merseyside BMX Club based in Huyton. Joseph reported the club had no toilet access due to broken lighting leading to the toilets. I contacted Knowsley Council, and the Managing Director of Volair informed us the lights have now been repaired.

Really sad to hear about Kevin Keegan’s diagnosis. A Liverpool legend and an absolute gentleman. I was lucky enough to meet and spend time with him last year when he visited Parliament with Mayors Andy Burnham and Steve Rotheram for a Football Families for Justice event.

Scrapping the two-child benefit cap will lift hundreds of thousands of children out of poverty - 3,310 in Knowsley alone. Today, Labour is bringing forward legislation to end this unfair policy and give every child a fair start, while the Tories and Reform oppose it.

Puppy smuggling has officially been banned. The Animal Welfare (Import of Dogs, Cats and Ferrets) Act is now law - banning the import of dogs & cats under 6 months old, heavily pregnant, cropped or declawed, and limiting transport to 5 animals per vehicle. As a dog lover, this is such great news🐶❤️

A constituent contacted me worried that her driving licence renewal wouldn’t arrive before her current one expired just a week later. I contacted the DVLA, and she received her renewed licence in time. She left us a lovely voicemail to say thank you — glad I could help. 🚗🚘

❄️ A beautiful Winter Solstice Candlelit Service at St Gabriels Church in Huyton. Thanks to Rev Cannon Mal for inviting me to read & for looking after me throughout the year. The church was twinkling in candlelight. The Choirs were stunning. A perfect time to come together, reflect & celebrate.

This is very welcome. I will be consulting residents from Beech & Willow Rise on this. They are continuing to be hit with grossly unfair charges of £10k per flat despite being moved out months ago.

After terrible flooding this year at Roby station, I contacted Network Rail to get it sorted permanently. They’ve now replaced the failed pumps in the tunnel with new ones, so flooding in the subway should be a thing of the past

My constituent was moved into a new property that was completely unfit to live in - with exposed floorboards, damp walls and serious impacts on their mental health. I stepped in to push the housing provider for action. The home is safe and cosy. She bought the team some lovely chocolates too.

Today is National Postal Workers Day - a chance to thank Knowsley’s hardworking posties. Looking forward to thanking them in person when I visit a local delivery office this week. With service standards falling, Royal Mail must listen to staff and fix the recruitment crisis.

I voted to bring our railways back into public ownership through Great British Railways. Constituents regularly contact me about cancelled trains, the bad state of stations & out of date ticketing practices. Our Bill will mean fewer delays, modern ticketing and frozen fares.

Unelected Tory Lords are still trying to block the Employment Rights Bill and voting against it in the Lords. Enough is enough. Unelected Lords shouldn’t be preventing the elected MPs in House of Commons from getting this Bill done and delivering for workers.
