The fun part is, we know what happens if there’s a serious attempt to remove corrupt friends of zillionaires from senior roles in the Labour Party: they dash off to their media friends and hork up terrifying scandals together, which they air-horn at the public until they get their jobs back.

To be clear I think McSweeney was part of a bigger sickness in the way power and politics works and I doubt he’ll vanish completely, but for now we can agree this is all very funny

AI did not arise out of a real human need. It arose out of billionaires’ agenda that this is what the world needs next so they can be even richer. Everything it does, humans do better, it’s better for them to do. What’s left is that it’s causing people mental crisis, polluting, plagiarizing.

McSweeney asked if Mandleson could be ambassador part time so he could accept a role as chancellor of Oxford University. The compulsive greed to have their grubby hands on all the buttons and be in all the rooms because they think it’s their right is vile and I’m glad to watch it fall in on them

Something that cannot be neglected re: Labour's current woes is that they spent a decade-plus deliberately wrecking the party, tearing it to pieces, to secure their preternatural right to lead, and yet now their handpicked PM is imploding, they are panicking because they have no one to replace him.

It’s so cruel - and what next? People are housed in hotels (& barracks) often out of town, bus routes are scarce & the weekly allowance is pitiful. Charities can step in, but are people now just going to get sick? What is the plan here?

The defining trait of conspiracism is not the suspicion that the rich and powerful are up to something nefarious (they are, of course); it's the implicit belief that their secret activity perverts a world that would otherwise be fine.

Not only would none of these people have admitted to any of this if the emails hadn’t been published but you would have been called crazy for even suggesting they were all partying, sharing gifts and favours, and building wealth with the head of a global trafficking ring

Even the most credulous Labour defender has to ask themselves why the Government only calls for reviews of Mandleson’s behaviour to be conducted after the information becomes public knowledge? Not very 4-D chess of them? Doesn’t bode well for any due diligence supposedly done before?

I was extremely naive in my twenties and early thirties, took people very much at their word when it came to values, and absolutely destroyed my mental health (and my career) thinking I could publicly demand accountability and survive it whole. (1/?)

It just seems naive, to me, at a time when the US is gleefully burning every bridge, ripping through international law and norms, and declaring its proud return to a sadistic world ordered by brute force and domination, for people to say, "But don't you see? We rely on them for security."

Effectively rejected on 3 grounds: - Too late to challenge 2017 rules that are in play - Too early to attack a decision that wasn't even made (duh) - Lack of standing as they are not a party to any of it, and companies cannot just sue random entities over policy.
