i think if you want to have those disgusting LED headlights on your car, you should have to do a test where they blast you point blank with your own headlights and then you have 15 seconds to successfully complete some sort of vision-based task, and if you can't do it they push your car off a cliff

Them: “I’m sick of subsidizing their groceries when mine cost so much” SNAP does not drive up grocery prices. That would be inflation, tariffs & corporate greed. For every $1 spent on SNAP there’s a $1.50 going back into the economy. While you’re blaming the poor, the rich are robbing everyone.

The actual finding here is that a huge percentage of the population believes things that are not true. Democrats objectively did not spend significant time on climate change or LGBTQ issues in the last election campaign.

Liberals are unwilling to admit that there is a form of politics that exists in the world that centers around causing harm for pleasure, destroying things, and looting the rubble, and they're unwilling to admit that this politics has a stranglehold on the right

The one time we got the smoking gun of undeniable ideology that mapped neatly onto american partisanship in political violence was J6, and we decided it was too scary to treat it as such, so now we return to deciphering memes of school shooters like medieval peasants panicking at an eclipse.

For most of the last decade, our media and political class has panicked over the idea that progressives were intruding on free speech rights by loudly criticizing people with unpopular views. Anyway, here's far-right federal paramilitaries advertising that they'll rip down pro-immigrant messages.

What is the point of having a constitution if it allows this? “Humans should not be subjected to torture” is an extremely basic principle that should never have to be explained or justified.

on January 6th, while attempting to overthrow an election, multiple rioters wore Nazi paraphernalia. they declared their intent to murder elected officials. the right stood steadfastly behind them and are now more powerful than ever. you can stand behind someone waving a Mexican flag.

what the right is offering young men is the subjugation of women in lieu of any material gains for men. that, like many components of fascism, feels very immediately rewarding to some people. it’s not something you can easily replicate on the left.

The "scolding" you always hear about is mostly a fabrication of right-wing propaganda. From prominent feminists to elected Democrats, progressive figures frequently show empathy toward men — as they should! Men are turning to Tate et al, because Fox is falsely telling them they're under attack.

I’m sorry people are rude to you online but if we’re talking about a political problem you need to tell me who *specifically* denies that men are struggling. The entire institutional left, from think tanks to mainstream publications to elected Democrats, acknowledge this constantly.

the biggest win the right-wing manosphere has gotten, imo, is convincing men that any solution to men’s problems has to be *specific to men* and, implicitly, somehow fuck over women (& trans & nonbinary people) in the process. it’s not enough for a solution to benefit *everyone*.
