After a long hiatus I’ve resumed my Stephen-King-athon (just in time for spooky season!) and oh god, Needful Things is quite tiresome, isn’t it?

Just seen some people are trying to spell “manoeuvre“ again. Please don’t. Someone could die. That word is only to be spelled by trained writers working in safe conditions and using specialist equipment.

Historians have a terrible habit of saying “the source claims X, but because X is far too interesting/unlikely, it mustn’t have happened, instead we’ll assume Y, the boring thing for which there’s no evidence” & I want to grab them and scream CRAZY STUFF HAPPENS ALL THE TIME! EVERYBODY’S CRAZY!

The lack of algorithm on Bluesky tells me that we were fools to accept it elsewhere. We all now talk about how Musk uses it to suppress dissent on twitter, but he hardly invented it.
