I recently took a neighbour's toddler to nursery by cargo bike ad a favour. They LOVED it. Apparently they now ask every morning if they can go in the bike instead of being driven. Life is just more fun by bike.

Since deleting Instagram from my phone, and limiting my overall social media time, life feels less noisy. I spend my down time in my garden with my dog, watching the birds outside, and actually taking in movies or shows because I am paying attention. It's nice. These apps steal our time.

I’m fired up today because I had to drive my AuDHD son to his field trip. 18 miles on an urban highway. Traveling at 60mph in a metal box when I know how fast 20mph on my bike is feels horrifying. Also watching the ocean of single occupancy vehicles parked in the opposite lane going into the city🧵

Sure there are countless benefits to children and society when streets are safe enough for kids to have mobility freedom but for me as a tired parent? Kicking my kids out the door at 8am just meant I had more time for me, a few more minutes with a coffee, a book or a record - the important stuff 😎

Bikes relieve stress in so many ways. Parents can relax with their children walking through a parking lot of people & their bikes, instead of a parking lot of cars.

If a road is causing traffic, especially a highway, the most reasonable and logical solution is to get rid of the highway. Cars aren’t water, they don’t *have* to go in a certain place. They can go around. Again, traffic is a social science.

Since I started as a crochet crafter I have a ton of different sized crochet hooks. I can’t imagine doing a three needle bind off this without a crochet hook!

Bc this country doesn’t really see kids as people or value their existence. In any other country, children are exalted. There’s more of a community responsibility for them as opposed to a burden or inconvenience.

Something I've loved about Mamdani so far is that he has done things centering the importance of kids and their value to communities. It's not just policies supporting kids, but events like the Bergen Bike Bus which send a message that kids deserve the right to move freely around cities.
