More hiking: if you've heard about trekking poles, you've probably heard that they help reduce the impact of hiking on your knees by between 20-30%. I got a pair of poles a few years ago, but haven't used them much, figuring they're more for hikes with lots of elevation gain or variation. Not so!

I kind of like getting more hiking mileage (and building up stamina) by doing a couple of shorter hikes in a day rather than doing all that mileage at once. I'll work up to the mileage, but taking a break, getting a good meal, and then going out on another hike is pretty great. #hiking #backpacking
