Pakistan: solar just overtook coal as the largest single source of electricity. 21% of power from solar in 2025. Up from 2% in 2019. Coal peaked at 20% in 2020. Want to read more about one of the fastest solar transitions anywhere in the world? Sign up to my Substack

it is my favorite time of the year, i.e., when my solar panels mean that my monthly power bill is < $10. we also just got a level 2 charger installed for the car, and as i’m thinking of doing some more serious renos to the house, i may get more panels installed + a battery. fully green house baybee

Grid-scale batteries are going in an absolutely wild pace. Every whingey objection to renewables you've ever heard is basically solved by batteries. This is happening whether any of the hopeless dipshits running the US want it or not.

A total of 112 gigawatts of batteries were deployed around the world in 2025 — 10 times the amount added just four years prior.

Building a behind-the-meter gas turbine next to your data center is not a strategy. It’s Panic buying. And ratepayers end up taking it on the chin because of 50% inflation in the utility supply chain. Stop doing data centers the dumb way.

Good morning with good news: US clean generation set two major records in March! RE (35.1%) generated more electricity than gas (34.8%) for a month for first time. RE & nuclear generated a record high 52.4% of US power in March. It was 3rd month ever of more than 50%.

Impressive piece and graphics. The lighting figure brought to mind my favorite 700-year energy figure. The cost of lighting in the UK has fallen from £35,000 per million lumen-hours in 1300 to essentially £0 today. One of the most underrated progress charts ever made.
