LATEST DATA | China's solar panel exports rise to record levels ☀️🇨🇳 China exported a record 25 GW of solar panels in August, bringing the total to 167 GW so far this year. This is on top of nearly 300 GW of solar capacity installed domestically already in 2025.

The energy transition has two main dimensions: 1. Cleaning up power supply 2. Electrifying the economy Current technology and economics now allow us to push both areas much further. The future energy system will rely mostly on electrons, not on fossil molecules ⚡️

Blink and you'll miss it. The EV revolution is taking off. 🚗 Even high growth rates provide small increases early on. Then it happens all of a sudden, all at once.

In August 2025, Germany installed 1.95 GW of solar power, the second highest monthly installations ever ☀️🇩🇪 Only December 2024 (1.98 GW) was higher. This also brought Germany's installation rate back above the targeted rate of 1.62 GW a month needed to achieve its own 2030 solar installation goal.

Time to update your priors. 2000: Electricity was confined to use cases like cooling, electrical equipment, lighting, trains etc. 2025: 75% of the global energy system can be electrified ⚡️ Transport, heating, cooling, industrial heat...it can now all be powered by electrons

EVERY YEAR we extract more material (coal, gas, oil) than the material needed for the ENTIRE energy transition...at massive economic and environmental cost. The cost of the energy transition is discussed all the time. What's often missing is the cost of not doing it.

The incredible scale of the clean power race: In the first half of 2025, China installed 12x more new solar capacity than the US. 🇨🇳 256 GW vs. 21 GW 🇺🇸 There's still time for the US to get with the program, but blink one or two years and it will be too late.

Coal power is showing signs of decline in China 🇨🇳 In the first half of 2025, coal power declined 55 TWh (-1.7%), as growth in solar and wind exceeded demand growth ☀️🍃 This is the first time China has ever seen prolonged falls in coal power outside of a major economic shock.
