elected democrats who want their constituents to remain non-violent in their protests of these abuses must actually offer a path for ending the abuses non-violently. they currently are not as a party and it’s a major problem.

A competent opposition political party would cut together the footage of what ICE had been doing in the twin cities with Mike Johnson saying "ICE is doing what ICE is designed to do" and have it in ads all across the country

the most important thing in 2028 is electing someone who is a true believer in the project of dismantling right-wing power. if you don't get that, then nothing else will matter very much.

“Abolish ICE” is such a clear and powerful message and it’s the *populist* one. People really don’t like what’s happening! I thought these bozos were all about polls?

It’s actually worse that you let ICE use Flock data even though you don’t have a contract with them. You understand how that’s worse right?

it is outright murder. talking about it on here means bracing for the inevitable "they do this all the time," which is true!, but probably not a useful comment, as the point is not to engender dialogue & analysis, but to join together in outrage at state violence

How can you even measure public support for an impeachment case that has never been made to the public? “Public support” is fungible and can be rallied. There is a lot of value in trying to do that!

DC Statehood needs to be a Day 1 priority, the one place the Guard aren't being withdrawn is where there is no federalism to protect citizens from presidential overreach. This can never happen again.

Many people have explained to Dick Durbin that this is a terrible idea that will make many things worse and children less safe. The generous explanation is he sucks at figuring out who to listen to. Not great for a policymaker!

Why do Democrats insist on this terrible “bipartisan” idea to repeal section 230? I’m sure hundreds of people have explained to them it will make the internet less safe and less independent. Ending 230 is literally a Project 2025 goal.

The House bill being voted on today to require cash bail in DC is insane. DC hasn’t had cash bail since 1992, and crime has plummeted since. Our current system is near identical to federal law. People should be held pretrial if they pose a safety risk — not because they are too poor to pay bail.

Democratic party leadership has been on autopilot for ten years, they weren't losing to fascism, fascism isn't popular enough for them to lose to fascism, they were allowing it to fill the void where their leadership should have been. Tonight we're seeing that we have other options. They should too.
