Is it possible for a FP to bleach much faster in point scanning confocal microscopy than in spinning-disc confocal ? To the extent that it's barely usable in point scanning but works fine in SDC? A user seems to have observed this with an RFP variant - (and I tested 3 point scanners...).

Biomedical research uses a lot of chemicals. Essentially every procedure in molecular biology, biochemistry, or genomics involves the use of chemicals including solvents, toxins, and carcinogens. You can't just dump these things down the sink when you're done with them!!!

For those who aren't biologists: This is a biosafety cabinet. Every biomedical research lab in the country has one or more of these bio safety cabinets. They use air flow to protect cells from contamination by bacteria and fungal spores while you are working with them.

We built on the @openflexure.bsky.social platform to combine a 3D printed microscope chassis with both a 3D printed condenser and objective lens. Now we have the entire microscope, including the optics, printed for less than £7.00… and it works! (2/N)
