DFL leadership should be begging for Luna’s help in reaching all the people and groups they’ve disenfranchised and forgotten about. Not the other way around.

To clarify: while we have not yet been approached by the state party to collaboratively address transphobia within the DFL, this is the first time in many years that a DFL Chair has publicly said they are willing to work with Stonewall.

So I've tried to write multiple letter the night before I got on a rafting trip about the DFL Feminist Caucus event and the letters. And I am so angry that I can't even type something to the state DFL (because I'm that pissed). So I'm going to do it here as a thread because I do not have time.

I hope our @dfl.org leadership takes seriously the experiences of trans, nonbinary, and two-spirit voters in this state. We have worked hard to build a trans-inclusive Minnesota. Our community growing deep roots here. To see our community dismissed and disregarded in this way is unacceptable.

Democratic Socialists are making the DFL the Transgender Party (Complimentary)

Completely and totally unacceptable behavior from leadership of a recently chartered DFL Community Caucus. Transphobia anywhere is a threat to our community everywhere. This is only the most recent example of transphobia being tolerated within the party. When will @dfl.org step in to stop this?

To be clear: this just gives me further motivation to push for a rule that positions transphobia - including misgendering like this - as an offense that's the same as physical violence. They also misgendered Luna by calling her "they."

Happy Labor Day! The Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party in Minnesota has the distinct honor of being the only Democratic Party affiliate in the United States that explicitly names Labor as part of our coalition. While this is unique, the DFL must remember not to take it for granted.

Thank you to @lademos.bsky.social and their LGBTQ+ Caucus leadership for having us tonight to talk about the recent tragic acts of gun violence that have occurred this summer in Minnesota, and the needed continued fight for trans rights in a country hostile to our community right now.

We are barely two months since the Speaker of the Minnesota House of Representatives and her husband were assassinated in their home, not far from today's shooting. So please fight for strong gun control laws at every level of government. Lives depend on it. They always have.

Join Stonewall DFL, the Minnesota DFL Progressive Caucus, and other DFL Party leaders in condemning transphobia within and outside of the Minnesota DFL Party.

Anti-LGBTQ hate groups spent hundreds of millions of dollars to create create panic around the existence of trans people to undermine ALL civil rights protections. Stop doing their work for them.

It is illegal in Minnesota to discriminate against trans people. Period, full stop. That includes in bathrooms. Treating people’s ability to use public spaces as a “social issue” continues to bandy about trans people’s existence as a political issue and it is gross. And dangerous.

Terry, can you elaborate on what forms of bigotry you think the DFL should accept, aside from transphobia? If people are uncomfortable being around Black people, for example, should we welcome them? If they don’t like being around immigrants or the disabled? Other queer people?

Minnesota law has been interpreted to require that cis, intersex, and trans women all have the right to use the womens restrooms. The DFL respects and obeys Minnesota law. End of discussion.

It won’t happen under ours either.

Trans rights are human rights, not “social issues.” To insist that trans people must bear the brunt of cis people’s discomfort is not in the same universe as DFL values.

This door knock is being postponed due to the weather and the recent MN Supreme Court ruling delaying this special election. We are going to reschedule this once Governor Walz has announced a new date for the special election. We'll keep everyone posted as we find out more.
