The Party has been Minnesota Nice long enough. It’s time for Latonya to resign, or @dfl.org leadership needs to force the issue. We have too much to lose in November to be tolerating this from members of the DNC.

I don’t think I have ever seen something as insulting as this during my time in the DFL. Our DNC members should be protecting and defending our DFL ENDORSED elected officials, not using a politicized DOJ investigation in an attempt to fundraise against her DFL ENDORSED primary opponent.

I really love volunteering in the DFL. I like this work A Lot and I think there’s good to be done! But these cishet members of the old guard refuse to learn, and keep making this shit hard for me because they refuse to accept that they need to learn to work with people like me.

As Chair and Vice Chair of the Minneapolis DFL, Eli Sherman and I, in order to put words into action, requested three things from the State DFL following the DFL Code of Conduct (CoC) Committee dismissing complaints of transphobia during a DFL Community Caucus meeting. 🧵

I’m cishet and I was in the meeting. Not only were repeated corrections in the moment ineffectual, they were treated as inconvenient and later outright hostile. People were rolling their eyes and saying “whatever” and using awful language I won’t repeat. Training is desperately needed.

Today, I watched much of that work and progress go up in smoke. As Chair of Stonewall, I call on @dfl.org leadership to do the right thing and put this rogue, unaccountable, and harmful committee into the dustbin of history where it belongs.

It’s also a very clearly a deeply transphobic part of this party. I have been happy to work with DFL leadership and staff on making this party more accessible to and inclusive of trans, non-binary and intersex people since my re-election as Chair of Stonewall DFL.

It’s clear that the Code of Conduct Committee is a rogue committee that feels it can do whatever it would like without any consequence. It is a poisonous cabal slowly leeching any energy this party has to organize and creating division in our ranks that is not necessary.
